FITS SAM'S CLUB GRILLS (BAKERS & CHEFS, MEMBER'S MARK)

A NOTE FROM OUR SUPPLIER IN REFERENCE TO THIS GRAND HALL, MEMBER'S MARK, BAKERS AND CHEFS REPLACEMENT HEAT PLATES:

"These plates are shipped with a coating of metal fabrication stamping oil. This oil is used on the metal when placed in steel presses to allow the high pressure stamping and cutting of the louvers and forming of turned edges of the part without tearing the steel.  It remains on these parts because the type of steel is cold rolled mild steel, not stainless steel nor porcelain enameled steel.  It has no protective coating.  This is exactly the way the manufacturer made these parts.  This is production from the manufacturer's tooling using their same material and manufacturing method.

While it may be unattractive, if the fabricator or we removed it before it was put in a grill for use, the parts would rust and be more objectionable to the consumer.

Burning the oil off is the only way to rid it of this manufacturing oil. Install the heat plates and tunr the grill on high with the lid open. Turn them over and continue the process until the smoke stops and the parts should be void of this oil.  We do not recommend soap and water cleaning because that will remove any remnants of the oil that may help slow pre-mature rusting of the part.  Even when rusted, the part is thick steel that will radiate heat to the cooking surface and act as a hot surface to vaporize oil from the cooking process making smoke from food drippings and that will help flavor the food.

If any customers still wish to clean it with soap and water to be sure this manufacturing oil is gone, we encourage them to use vegetable cooking oil with a paper towel to thoroughly coat the metal with that oil.  That and oil from the cooking process together will also slow the pre-mature rusting of the part."
