Remove your old handle from your grill. Slide the screw heads (along with the black spacer) into the grove of the wooden handle. Put the screws through the holes in the gill's hood. Add washers and nuts and tighten them up.

I have an old Broilmaster Grill and the handle holes are 24" apart. Do you have any grill handles with holes that are wider?
