Q

What product can I use to safely get rust off porcelain coated grills. Home remedies have not worked. Should you decide to purchase new grills, do not use a wire brush to clean them. Use a nylon scrubby on cold grids. Using a wire brush causes scratches which become cracks and that is where your rust comes from on shiny grids. If you have matte grids, you can use a brass bristle brush but never stainless steel brushes.

We suggest you use a wire brush to remove as much rust as you can and then coat the grids with cooking oil. Treat it as you would a cast iron skillet.
